High school schedules (grades 9–12)
The big lesson we learned during the shelter-in-place orders of 2020 is that the information age is upon us, and that we must tailor our teaching to meet the needs of today’s students. This likely means creating a combination of online and in-person classes; it certainly means we need to be nimble and adaptable.
To that end, our high school schedules are completely customized to fit the needs of each of our students.
All MSS classes are WASC accredited. Any class in the MSS schedule can be replaced with a junior/community-college class. A 3-unit college class is equal to a 5-unit high school class; students need 150 high school units to graduate from high school, so a combination of junior college and MSS classes combine to create a high school transcript.
Most junior-college classes transfer to four-year colleges and universities, so students can earn college credit during high school when concurrently enrolled in MSS and a local junior college.
Below, we’ve used the example of three students with differing goals, and created a sample schedule for each.
